Rehearsal Guidelines & Reminders
- Punctuality: Dancers must arrive 10–15 minutes prior to their call time, fully dressed in required attire and ready to begin.
- Attendance Policy: Every rehearsal counts. Dancers are permitted a maximum of one excused absence during the fall rehearsal period. Please report any planned conflicts at least one week in advance.
- Communications: Absence notices and scheduling questions must be emailed to dance@brattleboroschoolofdance.com.
- Tech Week Requirement: Attendance at all Tech Week rehearsals (December 7–10, 2026 at BUHS Auditorium) is mandatory for all cast members.

All communication should go through the BSD office (dance@brattleboroschoolofdance.com). Check e-mails frequently throughout these next few months as we keep you all updated!
Attendance Requirements
This year we are requiring all dancers to be present at every rehearsal in the theater during tech week. No exceptions please. Please note that this means students must find a way to be excused from any events that may interfere with our rehearsals during tech week, such as concerts, or other performances. You must make a choice at the outset of our rehearsals whether you can fully commit to this show.
Taking Class
If you are in a dance piece in the show we expect that technique will be worked on throughout the Fall semester in class.
Rehearsal Attendance
We are aiming for 100% attendance of course since the show is put together in just a few short months. Every week counts a great deal! Dancers are permitted ONE excused absence for the duration of the rehearsal process. We understand that illness and unforeseen circumstances are sometimes unavoidable. Dancers, please let us know in advance if you have a conflict and as soon as possible if you are ill. Remind your choreographer a week in advance of conflicts on your calendar.
Costume Requirements
All dancers must have a nude/light pink camisole leotard to wear underneath their costumes. This allows for coverage when changing in open or shared areas. In addition to a small selection of dance wear at the studio, Junction Dance Boutique in White River Junction and online retailers are good places to purchase the required items.
Please also note that all performers should avoid making any significant changes to their appearance during the rehearsal and performance period. Dyeing hair, significant hair changes, etc can drastically alter the costuming requirements and should be saved for a fun holiday/new year refresh.
Casting Process
Please understand that we take a lot of time and thought in casting the show. We ask for your support in helping your child feel good about the parts they have been assigned. We like to challenge our dancers as they move up the ranks, but of course, there are bound to be disappointments at times. That said, we truly feel that everyone's part is important. And there is always next time! Keep working!
Health
As this rehearsal and performance process falls into cold and flu season, we encourage everyone to be very conscious of hygiene. Frequent hand washing, use of hand sanitizer, and covering mouths/noses when coughing/sneezing are highly encouraged. Additionally, should anyone feel more comfortable wearing a mask when in rehearsal, they are welcome to do so. Let's do our best to stay healthy!
